Dr. Xia Jingyuan Delivers a Special Report on the Sustainable Development of Global Agricultural Production
On March 16, Dr. Xia Jingyuan, former Special Advisor to the Director-General and Director of the Plant Production and Protection Division (NSP) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), was invited to the "Study in CAAS · Silk Road Lecture · Series 5" and delivered a special report titled “Sustainable Development and Perspective of Global Agricultural Production” at the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GSCAAS). More than 150 participants, including leaders of GSCAAS, international students on campus, alumni and faculty representatives, attended the event both online and offline.

In the report, Dr. Xia Jingyuan focused on the core value, development challenges and sustainable paths of global agricultural production. He introduced the practice and relevant achievements of FAO's One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) initiative, and looked ahead to the trends and directions for the sustainable development of global agricultural production. After the report, international students engaged in an interactive exchange with Dr. Xia on hot topics of their concern, such as China's agricultural policies, food security issues caused by regional conflicts, agricultural development in Africa and the global sustainable development of agriculture.

As series 5 of the "Study in CAAS · Silk Road Lecture", this event provided an opportunity for the international students of GSCAAS to connect with the forefront of global agricultural governance, and further enhanced their understanding of China's agricultural development and international agricultural cooperation. GSCAAS will continue to optimize and strengthen the brand of the "Study in CAAS · Silk Road Lecture", build a high-level international academic platform, and strive to cultivate international agricultural talents with a global vision.
