Overview of International Student
The graduate school of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GSCAAS) is one of higher education institutions focusing mainly on graduate education. It was authorized by the Ministry of Education of China to enroll international students in 2007. The GSCAAS offers Master’s and Doctoral programs to international students through 34 institutes of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The duration of study usually last for 3 years for respective Master’s programs and Doctoral programs. In keeping with its “higher-level, research-oriented, internationalized and distinct-featured” mission, GSCAAS has always attached high importance to international education.
The GSCAAS offers international students various scholarships, including the Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS), the Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS) and the GSCAAS Scholarship (GSCAASS). Excellent international students are awarded for CGS, BGS and GSCAASS as well to study and research in GSCAAS. Now 155 international students from 46 countries are studying at GSCAAS, of which 80% are pursuing doctoral degrees. These students have distributed in 26 institutes of CAAS and involved in more than 40 programs. The GSCAAS also offers non-degree programs such as visiting scholars, student exchange and short-term/summer programs to the international students. The advantage of its agricultural education and research has been attracting more and more international students.
