Deepen International Education Cooperation and Jointly Promote Agricultural Talent Development - Vice President of Mekelle University of Ethiopia Visits GSCAAS
On May 28, a delegation led by Vice President Tekeste Berhanu and Shi Yongsheng of Mekelle University, Ethiopia, visited GSCAAS. Prof. Li Zhemin, Vice President and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Graduate School, attended the meeting. The two sides held in-depth discussions on international education, talent development and cooperation in agricultural science and technology, as well as exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
During the meeting, the two parties signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation Between Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Mekelle University of Ethiopia. Prof. Li Zhemin expressed the hope that taking this visit as an opportunity, the two sides would expand the scale of international students coming to China on the basis of existing cooperation, deepen exchanges between teachers and students as well as collaborative innovation in scientific research, promote a steady and in-depth development of cooperation between the two institutions, and contribute to agricultural talent training as well as scientific and technological cooperation between China and Ethiopia.

The delegation from Mekelle University thanked the Graduate School for the warm reception, spoke highly of CAAS’s fruitful achievements and leading strength in agricultural scientific research and graduate education, and expressed the expectation of advancing the implementation of all consensus through practical cooperation.

During the visit, the delegation toured the National Crop Genebank and the experimental farm of the Institute of Vegetables and Flowers. They gained first-hand insights into China’s latest progress and achievements in the conservation and utilization of crop germplasm resources, as well as in vegetable and flower breeding and demonstration.
