Academician Chen Hualan Delivers a Special Lecture at the 20th Graduate Academic Festival
To focus on cutting-edge scientific research, build a high-level academic exchange platform, and help graduate students enhance their research capabilities and broaden their academic horizons, the Graduate School held a special lecture for the 20th Graduate Academic Festival on March 26. Academician Chen Hualan, Executive Vice President of the Graduate School, delivered the academic report. Prof. Zhemin Li, Vice President and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection attended the event, as well as more than 100 teachers and students from Beijing participated.

Entitled Research and Prevention & Control of Avian Influenza Viruses, Academician Chen systematically reviewed the epidemic status and key prevention and control measures of highly pathogenic avian influenza. She elaborated on the core biological characteristics and global epidemic trends of H5 and H7 subtype avian influenza viruses, comprehensively reviewed China’s landmark achievements in vaccine research and international cooperation, and highlighted breakthrough research progress on the transmission mechanism of H5N1 influenza in dairy cows. Drawing on years of research experience, she emphasized the critical value of interdisciplinary research between veterinary science and public health, focusing on both basic research and applied prevention and control, and provided new perspectives for graduate students to explore scientific research. During the event, Academician Chen interacted with graduate students on topics such as avian influenza virus prevention and control technologies and key research challenges.

As a key activity of the Academic Festival in this year, the special lecture effectively built a bridge for communication between distinguished scholars and young students, promoted the sharing of cutting-edge academic achievements, and fostered a research atmosphere that values academia and pursues excellence.
