On September 16, the 2026 Opening Ceremony & Orientation for New International Students of the GSCAAS, was successfully held. Prof. Chen Hualan, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Executive Vice‑Dean of the Graduate School, Prof. Wen Yang, Assistant Dean, and 90 new international students from 23 countries attended the ceremony. The event was hosted by Dr. Dong Yiwei, Director of the International Education Office.

Prof. Chen Hualan extended a warm welcome to the new students and briefly introduced the educational features, comprehensive strengths and educational outcomes of the Graduate School. She encouraged international students to cherish their study opportunities in China, improve their Chinese proficiency and act as bridges for China‑foreign friendship. She urged them to devote themselves to professional studies, quickly adapt to research rhythms, take an active part in international agricultural‑science innovation exchanges, strictly abide by Chinese laws, regulations as well as institutional rules, cultivate personal virtue, and strive to grow into high‑caliber international‑oriented agricultural‑science professionals.

At the ceremony, supervisor representative Prof. Wang Yaosheng offered professional guidance to new students on academic planning, research implementation and supervisor‑student communication based on his own research experience. Current and new student representatives delivered speeches in turn, sharing their learning insights and expectations for the future. The International Education Office delivered orientation training covering laws and regulations, teaching and training, student status administration, scholarship evaluation, visa formalities, accommodation management, health insurance and campus safety for international students in China, and answered on‑site questions raised by new students.

This ceremony marks the official start of the academic journey for the 2026 international students at GSCAAS. The new students stated that they would solidify their professional knowledge, gain in‑depth understanding of Chinese culture, fulfill academic as well as research requirements earnestly, and actively engage in China‑foreign agricultural exchanges to contribute to global agricultural science and technology cooperation.
