The Beijing Winter Paralympic Games has come to an end following a spectacular closing ceremony at the Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing on 13th, March 2022. As the invitation of Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Graduate School of CAAS (GSCAAS) organized 17 representatives of international students to attend the opening and closing ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The opening and closing ceremonies were wonderful. The unique Olympic torch, Chinese knot, willow twig showed the perfect combination of the splendid culture of the Chinese nation and modern technology, built a bridge for exchanges between Chinese and foreign civilizations. Surprises made the international students linger on with no intend to leave.

“I am deeply moved by the enthusiasm of all, enthusiastic group of spectators sat in the stands at Beijing's Bird's Nest stadium doing the audience wave and cheerfully waved the Chinese flag while waiting for the night's festivities to start. As far as I’m concerned, I was highly delighted to attend this pleasant event.” Clement from Uganda says. Ashmit Kumer who is from Fiji, expressed his gratitude to the volunteers. “I would like to thank the volunteers, performers, medical teams, security and all the other individuals who made this event successful. I admire the effort of the volunteers and security officials who stood strong in this cold weather to welcome us and bid farewell with a warm heart and beautiful smile. This not just shows how welcoming and energetic the Chinese people are but also they stand for love, peace and safety.” Rabiu Sani Shawai from Nigeria said “Feeling lucky as a witness of such a grand event. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me. I’m so grateful to the Chinese Government, the entire staff of GSCAAS International Office, and my Supervisor for supporting my dreams.”

In order to enhance the understanding and support of foreigners, the Beijing People's Friendship Association organized a total of 13 institutions and universities in Beijing to observe the opening and closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympics. As the unit with the largest number of invited students, GSCAAS selected 17 international students from 9 countries including Fiji, Rwanda, Togo, and Pakistan, etc., participated in the activity. GSCAAS have been highly acclaimed, because of the well organization and full of vigor.
