The Graduate School holds the second session of 2017 International Scholar Lecture
On April 21, 2017, the graduate school held the second session of 2017 International Scholar Lecture. Dr. Wei Wong, the senior editor of Science Signaling, invited by Department of International Cooperation of CAAS, gave an inspiring speech, titled “how to get published in Science and other high-impact journals”. Around 60 PhD students attended this session, including both Chinese students and international students.
In her speech, Dr. Wei made a brief introduction of the differences between Science family of journals, including Science, Science Signaling, Science Translational Medicine and Science Advances. According to the article types and format, journal scope, audience and other factors, authors can decide where to submit their papers. She noted the value of professional editors and also gave students some practical tips about how to get published, such as how to write clearly, concisely and accurately. Wei made an appeal for more high-level academic papers from CAAS graduate school.
The whole speech lasted 50 minutes and Wei concluded it by a 15 minutes interactive discussion. Participants positively posted questions in writing and submission process and Wei answered specifically.
Science is the peer-reviewed academic journal of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and one of the world's top academic journals. First published in 1880, it is currently circulated weekly and has a print subscriber base of around 130,000. According to the Journal Citation Reports, Science's 2015 impact factor was 34.661.
Science Signaling, a family member of Science, is a weekly journal, covering research on cell signaling and the processes of cellular regulation. In addition, the journal covers signaling networks, synthetic biology, systems biology, drug discovery, and computation and modeling of regulatory pathways.
