Delegation of the University of New England in Australia visited the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences
On May 22, Katherine Vickers, Minister-Counselor of the Australian Embassy in China, Professor Michael Stuckey, Head of School of Law of the University of New England (UNE), Associate Professor Priti Krishna of School of Environmental and Rural Science, Professor Amanda Kennedy of School of Law and Miss Jackie Su, Regional Manager of UNE International, visited the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GSCAAS) and were received by executive vice president Han Huipeng, vice president Luo Changfu and related personnel of GSCAAS. The two parties discussed matters concerning carrying out joint Ph.D. programs.
At the meeting, Mr. Luo Changfu first extended his warm welcome to the delegation and then introduced the educational development of GSCAAS. Mr. Han Huipeng gave a detailed introduction of the scientific research advantages of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the characteristics of its graduate education. He hoped that through communication, both sides could cultivate Ph.D. students jointly in their superior fields. Professor Stuckey expressed his thanks for GSCAAS’s warm reception and highly praised CAAS’s achievements in technological innovation and talents cultivation. He introduced the condition of UNE, especially its preponderant disciplines and online education system. Professor Stuckey said that enjoying broad prospect for cooperation in academic exchange and talent training, CAAS and UNE could definitely reach a consensus in carrying out joint Ph.D. programs with both sides’ concerted efforts.
In the afternoon, Professor Krishna and Professor Kennedy gave a lecture titled “Oilseed Rape: Target of Crop Improvement by Biotechnology” and “Conflicts in Agricultural Land Utilization and Food Security: A Case Study of Australia” respectively, which were warmly welcomed by students.
The delegation also visited key national projects, the National Agricultural Library and other facilities of CAAS.
