Canadian Delegation of University of Guelph visits GSCAAS
On October 22, 2015, a Canadian delegation led by the vice president of University of Guelph (U of G) Prof. Serge Desmarais visited the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GSCAAS). Vice president of GSCAAS Luo Changfu met with the delegation. Director of the International Education Office Wang Xunqing attended the meeting. Prof. Luo Changfu welcomed the delegation first on behalf of GSCAAS and introduced the general information and running features of postgraduate education in our school. He said that GSCAAS and U of G have a long-term cooperative relationship and both sides share the same interests in many fields on joint educational programs. He’d like to take this opportunity to further promote bilateral cooperation in joint Ph.D. programs and academic exchanges of both sides.
Prof. Serge Desmarais introduced the basic information of U of G and shared the teaching, scientific research and international cooperation situation of their university. He pointed out that U of G and GSCAAS have strong similarities in Ph.D.-Cultivation mode and both sides have a lot of room for cooperation in the field of agriculture and life sciences. He hopes that the two sides should strengthen consultation to implement the joint Ph.D. programs together.
The delegation and representatives of GSCAAS had a full discussion on the joint Ph.D. program, talked about the cooperative framework and formed an important consensus. The two sides agreed to work together to seek funding support and to create better conditions for smooth implementation of the program to finally achieve win-win cooperation.
To strengthen cooperation and communication between the two universities, a GSCAAS delegation will visit U of G in November for further discussion on the joint Ph.D. program.
