Executive vice president of the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences Mr. Han Huipeng visits universities in Australia and New Zealand
From June 17 to 24, Mr. Han Huipeng, executive vice president of the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GSCAAS) led a delegation to visit the University of Sydney and the University of New England in Australia and Lincoln University in New Zealand and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Sydney to strengthen international cooperation and exchange of postgraduate education and promote joint Ph.D. programs between GSCAAS and overseas universities. Director of Department of Academic Administration Mr. Wang Xunqing was the delegation member.
During his visit in the University of Sydney, Mr. Han Huipeng met Professor Laurent Rivory, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Mark Adams, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, Professor Rosanne Taylor, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Ms. Sandra Meiras, Director of the Office of Global Engagement and Ms. Marry Wang and discussed concrete matters concerning joint Ph.D. programs with the two faculties. Then Mr. Han and Pro-Vice Chancellor Laurent Rivory jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the University of Sydney. Mr. Han visited the University campus and its teaching and scientific research facilities.
Mr. Han Huipeng also visited the University of New England and was received by Professor Annabelle Duncan, Vice-Chancellor of the University. Mr. Han introduced the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and its postgraduate education. Meanwhile, Professor Iain M. Young, Head of School of Environmental and Rural Science and other eight professors of the University introduced the school’s teaching and scientific research situation and its postgraduate education and suggested areas for cooperation. Mr. Han and his delegation visited the University’s experimental facilities for animal science, soil science and environmental analysis and its intelligent farms. Both sides negotiated on carrying out joint Ph.D. programs centering on their superior fields.
In Lincoln University in New Zealand, Mr. Han Huipeng held talks with Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Sheelagh Matear and introduced the postgraduate education of CAAS and the necessity of carrying out joint Ph.D. programs. Professor Charles Brennan gave an introduction of the framework plan of Lincoln University’s joint Ph.D. programs. Both sides agreed to cultivate Ph.D. students jointly in their advantageous fields on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Lincoln University in New Zealand. The delegation also had a meeting with CEO of Lincoln Agritech Ltd. Peter Barrowclough.
