GSCAAS and Murdoch University reached agreement on collaborative PhD training
Professor Liu Daqun, the Party Secretary and President of GSCAAS (Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences) met with a senior delegation from Murdoch University, Australia led by its Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor David Morrison, on Tuesday November 7, 2017.
President Liu first expressed his welcome to Professor Morrison and his delegation for their visit. He pointed out that the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and Murdoch University have their respective strengths and complement in agricultural research and education, as well as many other areas, which provide a solid foundation and broad prospects for collaboration. He suggested GSCAAS and MU to combine their distinctive features and advantages to promptly commence the implementation of the collaborative program.
Professor Morrison expressed his gratitude to President Liu and his colleagues for meeting with MU delegates and spoke highly of the bilateral strategic collaboration. He gave a brief overview of Murdoch University, its international cooperation strategy, integrated industry-academic-research approach, and international talent-training model. Both sides also discussed and came to a consensus regarding topics of mutual interests – regular bilateral exchange of academic and professional staff, and short-term training for postgraduates.
Both parties agreed to continuously explore new mechanisms and models of cooperation to make new contributions to the cooperation and exchange of China - Australia high-level talents training and agriculture research.
At the end of the meeting, Professor Liu and Professor Morrison signed the Agreement on Collaborative PhD Program in Agriculture and Life Sciences between Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Murdoch University, Australia.
